Alien by Thierry Mugler Perfume Review

Hi everyone,

I thought I would finally get round to reviewing what I now call my favourite ever perfume, but please bear with me as I'm not used to describing scents! If I'm honest, I've never been a huge perfume fan as unfortunately perfume never seems to last very long on my skin. But having tried Alien, it has completely converted me, and I'm interested in trying different scents and seeing what suits me and my skin.

I was initially given a tester of it, and decided to give it a try. The first time I wore it I noticed how long it lasted, and people even commented on it, asking what perfume I was wearing, something which has never happened to me before.

As well as the lovely smell, the packaging is attractive too. The bottle is really unusual, and as I got the smaller size, it fits perfectly in my handbag. In terms of the scent, it is quite powerful, and one spray can literally fill a whole room, but I personally don't feel it is too overpowering. It is described as a floral fragrance with hints of jasmine, and I find it's perfect for wearing in the evening, but I still love wearing it in the day, especially as it doesn't need to be topped up and can last for hours.

The size I brought was the 30ml Eau de Parfum which generally costs around £40-£45 in the UK and is about £10 more than the Eau de Toilette. They can also be brought in special refillable bottles, but I would suggest trying the fragrance first as it is an expensive mistake to make if you don't like it!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I hope it helps if you were unsure of whether to try it. Obviously perfume is a very personal thing, so I would definitely try before you buy! Let me know what you think about this perfume if you have tried it and whether you would re-purchase - I know I will! I will leave the link to the cheapest place to buy it online if you are interested.

Clinique Even Better Concealer

For me, concealer is the most important thing in my makeup bag. Not only do I have really dark circles under my eyes, which unfortunately I can't do anything about, but I also have spots that need some serious covering up. I've tried so many different concealers and although I have had my favourites over the years, I have finally found one that has so many uses I honestly don't think I will ever need to find another one.

The Clinique Even Better Concealer came into my life completely by chance. I wasn't looking for a new concealer, but when I was being advised on a new foundation the lady at the counter (who was actually very helpful) suggested I try this concealer. I hadn't got high hopes if I'm honest (I usually pick my concealers after a lot of research, reading blogs etc) as I am very picky when it comes to concealers, but as the lady had already taken my makeup off I thought I would give it a try.

When I looked at the difference in the mirror, I literally couldn't believe it. My skin looked flawless (and trust me it hasn't looked spot-free for a while now) and it had covered the bags under my eyes aswell! So let's face it, I couldn't not have one as it made me look like a different person! But of course, knowing my luck they didn't have it in my shade anywhere, not online or in any of my local stores. But finally, a few weeks later, I found one!

The concealer itself is quite thick and does take a bit of blending, but when put on before foundation it makes my skin look flawless. It is quite pricey at £18, but it should last a long time - and anyway I haven't found a concealer this good in...well, ever! I'm surprised I haven't heard it mentioned on anyone's blog already! It can also be used for people with Very Dry to Combination Oily Skin (Clinique Skin Type 1,2,3) so it is perfect for most skin types.

And if that's not enough, it also is 100% Fragrance Free with Vitamin C, covers dark spots, and makes skin look brighter and more even-toned. As you can tell, I love this product. If you suffer with under eyes bags or blemishes (or both like me) this product is amazing, and I would love someone to find this product if they were looking for something to help their skin look flawless.

Thanks for reading and I will leave the link to the concealer below.

First Impressions: Maybelline Baby Lips

I've been so excited for the launch of the Maybelline Baby Lips here in the UK as I had seen them being raved about on all my favourite American beauty blogs. But finally the wait is over and they were released here in the UK earlier this month!

I decided to purchase just one to start with just in case I wasn't sure about them, but I really can understand why bloggers have been so excited about them. To begin with, they are just £2.99 (which is pretty reasonable in my opinion) and they come in 6 different varieties. I decided to go for the one that caught my eye when I reached the Maybelline counter which was Pink Punch, this gorgeous bright pink shade.

What I love about the product is that it is quite moisturising and works as a lip balm (although I can't quite agree with its claim that it lasts for 8 hours as it quickly disappears after eating or drinking). I love the colour and I was actually quite impressed with how bright the colour looked on, as I was expecting it to not show up very well. Although the picture makes the lipbalm look quite sheer, it is buildable so it can either be this sheer or a brighter colour if applied liberally.

Another thing I love about the Baby Lips is that it smells just like tropical juice! It might not be everyone's cup of tea having a scented lip balm, but I really love sweet scents so I love it!

I am definitely going to purchase more of the Baby Lips and I just hope that the other varieties are just as good! I hope that Maybelline bring out more colours as well, as I don't think 6 is enough!

Let me know if you have tried out the Maybelline Baby Lips and I hope you found this post helpful and interesting! Let me know in the comments!

Zara Office City Bag

I thought I would do a quick post on the Zara Office City Bag that I recently purchased in-store. I had seen it on some of my favourite blogs and loved it then, but I never considered actually buying it - I think the price (£49.99) was a major factor.

As I am (hopefully!) studying Fashion Retail Management at university this year, I knew I would need a good, sturdy bag that would allow me to carry folders, and other work whilst also having space for all the other necessities needed in a regular handbag.

I had been looking around online for a while, but I only seemed to find bags that were either too big to carry round all day, or too small to be practical for carrying all the things I would need.

On a recent trip to Zara though, the City Bag caught my eye once again. It was the last one in store, which is always my weakness as I didn't want to leave it and regret missing it! It is the perfect size for folders, has both handle straps and a shoulder strap and is the perfect material that looks like it is definitely 'Sarah Proof'!

It has 3 zip sections and two open sections (perfect for folders, books etc.) and smaller zip sections on either side for loose change, pens, makeup. And I can't forget to mention the gorgeous berry coloured lining! In terms of colour, I think black is always a safe bet for an everyday bag as it pretty much goes with any outfit, and the gold zips and hardware make it look much more expensive than it actually is.

So yes, I did finally get my hands on one, and usually with a purchase this big (which is hardly ever), I would usually have my doubts about it, but I'm actually so glad that I brought it in the end as it is so useful.

If you are interested in the bag they are still available on the Zara website:http://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/handbags/office-city-bag-c269200p1353012.html

Happy Shopping!
